As well as making music, I also dabble in game development.

Unfortunately, most of these projects are still a work-in-progress, and will take a while to finish.

BeatBattlers DJane

Beat Battlers [unreleased]

Beat battlers is a low-poly combat & puzzle game where you create simple melodies by performing various actions within the game, such as jumping, attacking etc.

Every action adds one or more notes onto a timeline at the bottom of the screen.

The goal is to use your environment to construct a specific rhythm that will then allow you to progress through the game.

You can play as multiple characters, switching between them to utilise their strengths and weaknesses.

The game is currently a work in progress, so there's no gameplay footage (yet!)

This game is being made within the Unity Game engine.

T.B.D Racing is a medium-poly racing game that I am currently in the process of developing.

For now, visuals are not the focus, but rather the physics, gameplay and sound design.

The gameplay, physics and handling of the cars is reminiscent of older racing games, such as Need for Speed: Prostreet.

As you might've guessed, all sound design will be done by me: tyre screeching, engine sounds, the lot.

This is an early build of the game (03/02/25)

(I should really update this...)

Visuals

All cars will be designed using 3D modelling software called blender.

Making cars is no trivial task, but I've found that one good way to create a unique design, is to just try and make it from memory. All the little mistakes & inconsistencies build up until you have a completely new car.

DISCLAIMER: This does not work if you have photographic memory.

Blender

Sound Design

All car sounds will be made via synthesisers, and manipulating unrelated samples until they sound "engine-like", usually involving some form of Distortion, EQ, or granular synthesis.

I've then implemented a custom-made audio system within the game engine to alter the pitch & volume of each sound file, emulating each aspect of the car's engine/transmission.

C#

In the video below, I've removed all of the different sounds made by the car, to then slowly add them back in one by one.

I admit, it sounds quite jarring at first due to some of the sound layers being missing, but eventually, you get a realistic sounding car.

What does 'TBD' stand for? It's to be determined...

This game is being made within the "Flax" game engine: A fast, lightweight engine catered towards 3D game projects & simulations.

"The Debug Room" [unreleased]

"The Debug Room" is a sandbox type game where you can create your own scenarios by creating custom characters,  spawning in objects, and seeing how they react.

This is probably my biggest project that I'm constantly chipping away at - it's meant to be a framework that I can use to then create bigger & better games in the future, including Beat Battlers.

Unfortunately, this game is still in its early stages. There's not much in terms of visuals or gameplay with this one yet, so instead, here's a GIF of one of the debug characters hastily trying to crawl along a slope.

Below are some other titles that I'm currently working on. After creating "The Debug Room", I can then begin development of these games.

Piddly's little adventure! [unreleased]

Piddly's Little adventure is a parody of older games that were often aimed at younger audiences, complete with unsettling character design, and low quality visuals.

These kinds of games were made for 6th generation consoles, such as the Playstation 2, or the Original Xbox.

The 'happy-go-lucky' nature of the characters is often questioned, with self aware humour & 4th-wall breaking.

Private lox [unreleased]

Private Lox is a war-themed stealth game, where you play as a stranded soldier in enemy territory, and must sneak over the hostile border into an allied country.

Due to unforeseen weather conditions, you flew your plane over the wrong area and were promptly shot down. Somehow, you managed to safely parachute to the ground, where you walk along unfriendly territory.

Abigail Must Know [unreleased]

"Abigail must know" is a point-and-click game where you explore a 3D environment, and inspect objects, gathering clues to solve an assortment of puzzles.

You play as a little girl named Abigail, who is always curious about the world around her, and is about to find out more than she bargained for.

Half Hydra [unreleased]

Half Hydra is a 2D round-based fighting game, similar in nature to Mortal Kombat.

Unfortunately, this is easily the "least developed" game out of all of them, and is at the bottom of my priority list.

The name, "Half Hydra", is a reference to another fighting game called "Double Dragon". Aside from that, there are no other similarities between the two.

Concept art for the loading screen - The lag and laughably low quality is intentional.

Onwards & Onwards! [unreleased]

"Onwards & Onwards!" is an exploration/combat game about a pirate that fell off their ship, and washed up onto the beach of an unknown island.

Equipped with only their sword and a compass, they must fend for themselves until help arrives.

(Spoiler: help does not arrive anytime soon).

All of these games will be made within the Unity Game engine.
